Notes on Writing an Argumentative Paragraph:
Claim = your position + 1 reason
Data = Quote experts, studies, spec. Info (citation). Don’t forget to introduce data.
Warrant = explanation & analysis of how your data supports your claim unpack the data MIN. 2 sentences if not, get better data. Don’t repeat data.
Counterclaim = presents an opinion that is different from yours. Insert quote “several scientists at … argue that …” 1 sentence
Rebuttal = present additional expert quotes, factual info or data to prove the counterclaim is not as strong as your initial claim. (data + explanation & analysis) most important, to disprove all other claims against yours to persuade reader. 3 sentences.
Closing Statement = You want to end by restating your main point/claim, in different words.Mike drop, should be main argument of paragraph and me most important part

Things Tucker Hates:
  • The word “Thing”, stuff, bad, good, & boring words.
  • Contractions like “can't” which are informal, please write cannot
  • Beginning sentences with “so”
  • Overusing the same tired verbs like “show”
